Weekly Notes 27th June 2022

Fixtures

On Saturday the 25th our Senior Hurlers travelled to Templetouhy to face County League Champions Drom & Inch in the Centenary Agri Mid Senior Hurling Championship quarter final. Down several players from last year’s county final win our lads gave a great account of themselves and were truly in the game until a penalty for Drom broke our momentum. In a game played in wintery conditions the scoreline of 1:16 to 2:20 saw us lose by a total of 7 but there were plenty of positives to be taken from the game ahead of the first round of the senior championship. The opening game of the Championship will see us face off against Kiladangan on the weekend of the 23rd/24th of July.

On Sunday morning our Junior As played host to Moycarkey – Borris in Cuguilla in the Thurles Credit Union Junior A Hurling championship Div 1 Round 1 game. As a result of the seniors being down several players our Juniors were also down players who have had to make the step up to senior. After a slightly sluggish start we settled well and built a nice lead of 7 points at the interval. A second half Moycarkey surge saw us under pressure in the latter stages but we managed to hold out for a 2-16 to 1-18 win.

Juveniles

Our under 15 footballers overcame Clonmel Commercials in Bansha on Monday the 20th in the County Semi-Final. The final was played on Sunday the 26th but unfortunately we came up against a very strong Clerihan outfit who had too much for us on the night. Hard luck to players and management and congrats on getting to the County Final.

A win against Cork in Pairc Ui Rinn on Saturday the 2nd of July is essential for the Tipperary Senior Camogie Team to progress to the knockout stages of the competition. The game will throw in at 5pm. The club wishes best of luck to Aoife, Eimear, Mairead, and Niamh ahead of this important game.

The club would also like to offer best wishes to the Tipperary Minor Hurling team who will take on Offaly in the All-Ireland Final on Sunday the 2nd of July.
