Weekly Notes 1st August

County Senior Hurling and Football Championships

We got out County Senior Football campaign off to a winning start in Cashel against Ardfinnan. A typical Irish summer’s evening of wind and rain saw us start slowly but build nicely as the game progressed to run out comfortable 5 point winners. With a number of absentees through injuries it was encouraging to see a battling performance from 1 to 15. We will play Moycarkey Borris in the second round due to be played the weekend of the 12th of August.

This weekend we switch back to hurling as we face neighbours JK Brackens in Semple Stadium at 2:30pm on Sunday. Both teams drew in the opening round so this result will have a big bearing on how the group plays out. Brackens are already assured of a preliminary quarter final berth having won the Mid Senior Hurling Championship.

Tickets will be available from the Tipperary GAA website during the week and a tap and go facility will exist on the gates on the day. There will be no cash taken at turnstiles.

Intermediate Football and Junior Hurling

Our intermediates suffered defeat to Grangemokler Ballyneal on Sunday evening. A squad feeling the pinch in terms of numbers due to our unprecedented injury crisis at senior level gave a decent account of themselves against last year’s county runners up which was probably not accurately reflected on the scoreboard. A little bit more composure in front of goal could have seen us keep the margin between the two teams a bit closer.

Our Junior hurlers will face Upperchurch Drombane on Saturday evening in the Mid Semi Final in Drombane at 7pm. Again, tickets will be available online during the week.

Ladies Football

The game fixed for last Friday evening against Holycross was postponed and has now been refixed for thus Thursday the 4th of August at 6:30pm.
