County Senior Hurling and Football Championships

Round 2 of the County Senior Hurling Championship will be played this weekend after having being postponed in light of the tragic circumstances that occurred in Semple Stadium on Friday the 5th of August. The whole of Loughmore Castleiney GAA Club wishes to express its deepest sympathies with the Quirke and Fryday families as well as the wider Clonoulty Rossmore community on the passing of Dillon Quirke.

Brian McGrath wears the Number 11 jersey of his friend and teammate Dillon Quirke in the County Senior Football game against Moycarkey Borris.

Our Senior Hurlers will play JK Brackens in the refixed game on Sunday at 2:30pm in Semple Stadium. For those unable to attend the game will be shown live on TG4.

On Friday 12th of August our Senior Footballers made it back to back wins in the group stages of the County Senior Championship with an emphatic 3-14 to 0-8 win over Moycarkey Borris in Templetouhy. The hot weather could not have been in any more contrast to the wind and rain in which the 1st round game was played only a fortnight earlier. This was a game that saw the temporary return of water breaks in scorching conditions but the lads took the conditions in their stride and played some very attractive football while racking up a large score.

Intermediate Football and Junior Hurling

Our Junior C Hurlers got the weekend off to a great start with a 1-21 to 0-8 win over Gortnahoe Glengoole on Thursday evening. An early goal set the tone for the rest of the match as we were comfortable throughout. This will hopefully bode well in our efforts to retain last year’s Mid title.

Our Junior B Footballers were due to play Upperchruch Drombane on Sunday morning, however, this game was called off over the weekend. The game will be refixed at a later date.

Our Junior A Hurlers will play Upperchurch Drombane on Saturday evening in Drombane in the Mid 1/4 Final.

Ladies Football

The final group game for our Ladies Junior Team will take place in Boherlahan against Boherlahan on Thursday the 18th. No time has yet been finalised but it is likely to be 7 or 7:30pm. We will update on social media when we know more. The game will be streamed by CK Streaming.
