Sean Mockler Memorial Cup

On Saturday 19th February Loughmore Castleiney GAA Juvenile Club hosted the 2021 delayed annual Sean Mockler Memorial Cup (U11) and as bonus the County Senior Football & Hurling Champions came along to support and showcase their 2021 silverware.

Pat Cullen (Club President), Rose Mockler (Wife of Sean), Willie Eviston (Senior Football Captain), Noel McGrath (Senior Hurling Captain)

Played on the Club’s new Astro pitch facility, both teams gave a great display of skill.  Congratulations to all players and thanks to referee, Dara Nolan.  Thanks to Mrs. Rose Mockler, who along with her grandson, Fintan Purcell, presented the Cup to the winning team, and medals to all the players.  Refreshments served in the clubhouse were greatly appreciated by everyone and County winning captains Willie Eviston and Noel McGrath were presented with a celebration cake from the Juvenile Club.

Dinner Dance

Our dinner dance to celebrate our 2021 double county champions, will take place on March 12th in the Templemore Arms Hotel at 8pm. Tickets are €35 each and enquiries can be made with any club officer. This promises to be a fantastic night and a wonderful opportunity to celebrate such a unique feat. So please come along and give our double winning heroes the celebration they deserve.

Fitzgibbon Cup Success

Congratulations to Ciaran Connolly who won a Fitzgibbon Cup medal with University of Limerick on Saturday 19th of February. Ciaran played a starring role in the win. Ciaran joins Paul Ormond, Derek Bourke, Liam McGrath, John McGrath, and John Meagher in bringing Fitzgibbon medals back to the parish while Shane Nolan was a winning joint manager in 2017.

Inter-county Action

It is a busy weekend for our players on senior inter-county panels in the National Hurling and Football Leagues.

On the football panel both Willie Eviston and Sean O’Connell start for Tipp.

On the hurling panel Brian McGrath will make his first start of the year for Tipp while his brothers John and Noel start on the bench.

Both games are due to be played in FBD Semple Stadium on Saturday. The hurlers will play Dublin at 5pm with the footballers taking on Sligo at 7pm. We wish all our players the best of luck. Tickets must be purchased online before the game. See here for details.

Our footballers head to Kerry this weekend to take part in the Comórtas Peile Páidi Ó Sé. We will take on Arva of Cavan on Saturday morning in Lispol. Further details can be found on the website.
