Weekly club notes 29th Nov 202130 Nov 2021
Having annexed the County football final over kingpins Clonmel Commercials a week previously the senior hurlers followed suit on Sunday last by overcoming hurling kingpins of the County Thurles Sarsfields on a 2-14 to 2-13 score line to capture a remarkable County senior double for the second time. See report.
Contesting the senior championship for the 17th successive week, questions were asked would it catch up on practically the same bunch of players, but to the eternal credit of all concerned the evidence of this theory was certainly put on hold on the day at least to claim another historic double for the club and a fourth County senior hurling title. We congratulate the entire panel of players, manager and selectors, coach, strength and conditioning, physio, kit man, hurling carriers etc. and a special mention to Mick Dempsey. Since coming on board with the management, Mick has instilled in the players the confidence in their own ability to achieve at the highest level. Well done to all.
Man of the Match: Congratulations to John Meagher who despite carrying a worrying hamstring injury in to the game overcame the odds with a terrific defensive performance.
The Dan Breen Cup was presented by Chairman Joe Kennedy to captain Noel McGrath amid joyous scenes of jubilation.
