Weekly Club Notes 22nd November 2021
22 Nov 2021County Senior Football Champions:
What a performance from the team on Sunday last at Semple Stadium when in typical fashion came from behind to defeat arch rivals and County champions Clonmel Commercials 1-12 to 1-11 and bring the O’Dwyer Cup to the club for the 15th time. See report.
Certainly great credit must go to the panel of players, team trainer, coaches, manager, selectors, physio and all concerned on this huge achievement, on their sixteenth successive weekend and having to line out without key players in John Meagher and Brian McGrath, all the more remarkable.
The O’Dwyer Cup was presented to captain Willie Eviston by County football chairman Conor O’Dwyer amid scenes of wild enthusiasm and delight.
Our congratulations to John McGrath on yet again picking up the Man of the Match award sponsored by John Quirke jewellers, Cahir. What a season John is having.
County Hurling Final Replay: Thankfully the players cannot relax for another couple of weeks at least as on Sunday we travel back to Semple Stadium to lock horns again with Thurles Sarsfields with a 3.15pm throw in.
No doubt this will again be a mighty task for all but certainly well within the capacity of the players who are on a roll at the moment. Best of luck to all. (Please support).
Training Fund: Our training fund continues to be a huge success and remains open to subscriptions to any club officer or the club Bank account on IE80 BOFI 9044 5629 1729 81.
Congratulations: We offer our congratulations to the girls from the parish and the Drom team on and the Drom team on taking a third in a row County title on Saturday last.
Also to our neighbouring club’s Moyne/Templeuohy and Drom/Inch on winning hurling and football Intermediate titles recently.
Sympathy: On behalf of the club we offer our sympathy to our strength and conditioning coach Murtagh Brennan and vice chairman Eugene Stapleton on the passing of their uncle Pascal. RIP.
