Weekly Club Notes 16th November 2021
16 Nov 2021LOUGHMORE/CASTLEINEY G.A.A. CLUB
In glorious weather on Sunday last in Semple Stadium our senior hurlers fashioned a thrilling draw with Thurles Sarsfields on a 0-23 to 2-17 score line and kept the Dan Breen in the hands of the County chairman for another day.
While both sides had their periods of dominance, overall we can be very pleased with our display as we fell eight points adrift early in the game to go two up with ten minutes to go, a ten point turnaround and a heart stopping finish. (see report).
The replay date is Sunday 28th November at 3.15 in the Stadium.
Our congratulations to John McGrath on receiving TG4 Man of the Match with a 0-12 tally.
County Football Final: On Sunday next we leave the small ball aside as we travel back to the Stadium for the County senior football final v Clonmel Commercials with a 2.30 pm start.
Considering it will be our 16th week in succession the lads are in remarkable condition, no doubt thanks to Murtagh and co and physio Cathy and we feel sure that no stone will be left unturned as we aim to reverse last years 1-15 to 1-16 defeat by Commercials. Best of luck to the team and management.

Training Fund: Our training fund remains open and the goodwill of people within and outside the parish is incredible. With our teams participation in both senior finals and now a replay in hurling huge demands of finances occur. Congratulations: At our recent club meeting congratulations were extended to clubman Declan Laffan who has managed Laois side Clough/Ballacolla to two County senior hurling titles in recent weeks with the 2020 final delayed from last year. Declan trains our U/17 teams this year. Well done Declan.
