Loughmore/Castleiney GAA Club Weekly Notes 21st September 2020
21 Sep 2020Senior Hurling: At Semple Stadium on Sunday last in the glorious heat and sunshine our senior hurlers were pipped at the death by Kiladangan in a thrilling County final after extra time.
Finishing level at the end of normal time 3-14 to 0-23 we were ahead by the minimum as the final whistle loomed, only for that heartbreaking final Kiladangan goal gaining them victory on a 3-20 to 1-28 scoreline. (see report).
Our congratulations to Kiladangan on gaining a first County senior title.
Senior Football Final: While the disappointment of the hurling final will be difficult to eradicate from the heads, thankfully the same bunch of players will return to the Stadium on Sunday next for the County senior football final v Clonmel Commercials with a 4.30pm start.
While this will be their eleventh successive weekend with both codes the lads and management will not be found wanting facing the County champions with last years final defeat by the South men still hurting.
Junior Hurling: On Saturday last in Templemore our junior hurlers were defeated by Moycarkey in the Mid semi final by 2-10 to Moycarkey’s 1-16.
No doubt huge effort was put in by players and management over the last two months with almost every player in the parish getting a game.
Minor Football: Despite a second defeat, this time by Drom on Wednesday night last we still have a chance of progress when on this Wednesday evening in Castleiney we face J K Brackens in Castleiney at 6pm.
Training Fund: A huge response to this fund form the parish and beyond continues with every subscription greatly appreciated.
