Loughmore Castleiney GAA Club News 29th October
29 Oct 2018Senior Hurling: At bitterly cold Templetuohy on Saturday evening last our senior hurlers gained some consolation from the championship exit to Nenagh Eire Og, when in a thrilling Mid final replay they overcame great rival Thurles Sarsfields following extra time on a 2-21 to 1-21 score line and take the Leahy Cup for a 13th occasion since gaining senior status in 1981.
Just like the drawn marathon, this game ebbed and flowed with both sides having periods of dominance and finishing 1-19 each at the end of normal time. Following the game a jubilant Noel McGrath, as team captain, and who finished with a personal tally of fifteen points, accepted the cup from Mid chairman Jonathan Cullen. Brian McGrath with a top class defensive display received the Man of the Match award.
So from what seemed a disappointing senior championship exit in both codes many club would be happy to have two senior Mid titles, Cahill cup and County senior hurling league to show at the seasons finish.
U/21B Hurling: On Sunday next at 12 noon Templetuohy we face Gortnahoe in the championship. All players to attend.
