Loughmore Castleiney GAA Club News 28th May

Senior Hurling: On Saturday last our senior hurlers travelled to Dolla GAA grounds to participate in The Ger Grace Memorial eleven a side tournament. We were grouped with Silvermines and Portroe. A first round 4-14 to 5-07 over Portroe and a 2-15 to 2-05 win over Silvermines gained a semi final spot v group 1 runners up Templederry. This turned out to be a hard fought encounter with men from Kenyon country getting through 2-11 to 1-14.

Our sincere thanks to the Silvermines club for their invitation to this well organised event and the top class refreshments provided. We thank our players for making themselves available on the day.

On Wednesday evening last our senior hurlers had a very good victory over Thurles Sarsfields in a Cahill Cup knock our game in Castleiney. At half time we held a 0-12 to 0-09 lead and finished with a 3-17 to 2-11 victory to progress to the semi final.

County Football League Division 2: On Sunday evening last our footballers travelled to Clogheen to play Fr. Sheey’s. However, despite a good effort they lost out to the home side by a six point margin.

Fixtures: Our junior A hurlers will take on Thurles Gaels in the Mid championship on this Friday evening June 1st at 7.30 on Kickham Park.

Juvenile Club: Congratulations to our U/14 footballers on winning the Mid B final . A magnificent performance from the boys saw them victorious over a highly fancied J K Brackens team on a 1-08 to 0-07 scoreline to take the title. Well done to all.
