LOUGHMORE/CASTLEINEY G.A.A. CLUB Weekly Notes 7th October 2019

Senior Hurling:  On Sunday evening last in Littleton our senior hurlers bowed out of the County championship when, after a thrilling contest that went to extra time, we lost out to County champions Clonoulty on a 3-22 to 1-33 scoreline.
No doubt we had the winning of this contest in normal time, despite the harsh sending off that reduced us to fourteen men for three quarters of the game. However the lads never gave up and were in contention all through.
So despite the huge effort that had been put in and collective training hampered with County duty through the year the players and management must be complimented on such endeavour.  Our best wishes to Clonoulty in the remainder of the championship.

Thankfully this is not the end of the road for all these players as we are contesting the County senior football semi final in which we face big rivals Clonmel Commercials in a couple of weeks time and also the Mid championship awaits.

Junior Hurling:  On Saturday next at 2pm in Borrisoleigh we face Clonoulty in the junior A hurling quarter final.  Despite losing some top players to senior status we can still be a very competitive outfit on the day.

Sympathy:  We offer our deepest sympathy to the Gleeson family, Castleview, Loughmore on the passing of their mother Peg, former teacher and principal of Loughmore N.S. for thirty seven years.  May she Rest in Peace.
Also to the King family, Loughmore on the passing of Kitty Lanigan, wife of the late Michael Lanigan, former club secretary and selector and parish postman for many years.
