This was a closely fought encounter throughout with little separating the sides and at the end of normal time the scores were tied at 2-22 to J K Brackens 3-19.
Extra time continued with our lads adding four points to Bracken’s two and reach a successive final v Moycarkey.

Late Madeline Keane: On Saturday last we learned of the passing of Madeline Keane, Ballinroe, Castleiney in her 96th year. Along with her late husband Bertie, they provided a training ground for the club opposite where son Tony now provides a fine horse transport operation. The club won many honours from this particular grounds including 1970 U/21 football Mid and County and 1973 senior football Mid and County titles along with reaching the Munster club final. To her son Tony and relations the club offers it’s deepest sympathy RIP.
Also to the Buckley family, Castleiney on their recent bereavement.
