LOUGHMORE/CASTLEINEY G.A.A. CLUB Weekly Notes 14th September 2020

On Saturday evening last in Boherlahan our senior footballers joined the hurlers in reaching the County final by virtue of a hard fought victory over Moyle Rovers on a 0-18 to 1-11 socreline, having being on level terms at half time and after playing with a very tricky wind. (see report).

Remarkably this will be our fifth time reaching both County finals since becoming a dual senior club in 1981 with the record standing at four football victories including a first ever senior double for the club and County in 2013.

Minor Football: On Wednesday evening last in Thurles outside field our minor A footballers were beaten by a very good Sarsfields Og team on a 2-08 to 2-14 scoreline. They now face Drom in a must win game this Wednesday evening at 6.30pm in Castleiney.

Junior Hurling: On this Saturday 19th September our junior A hurlers face Moycarkey in the mid semi final in Templetuohy at 2.30pm. Check time.

County Final: On Sunday next at 2pm in Semple Stadium our senior hurlers face Kiladangan in the Couny final. Despite this being our tenth week on the trot our lads hold a tremendous fitness level and no doubt are in no mood to surrender that winning roll no matter what is thrown at them on the day.

Great excitement exists in the club and parishes and despite our band of loyal supporters having to stay at home the colours are widely displayed from many vantage points throughout the parish.

Thankfully for all the game goes out live on TG4. Best of luck to the team and management on the day.

Training Fund: Due to our huge success in reaching two County senior finals this naturally imposes huge pressure on finances. A training fund is now open and anyone wishing to contribute to the fund can contact Eugene Stapleton 086/7833710, Jim Nolan 087/6037366, Eamon Connolly 086/0213376 or any committee member where any contribution will be much appreciated by the club.

Congratulations: On behalf of the club we offer our congratulations and best wishes for the future to Thomas Quinn who was married on Friday last. We wish Thomas and Sarah many years of happiness.

Camogie: Our best wishes to our girls from the parish who play with Drom in the County final this Saturday.
