LOUGHMORE/CASTLEINEY G.A.A. CLUB Weekly Notes 10th March 2020
10 Mar 2020Senior Hurling: On Sunday morning last in Castleiney our senior hurlers commenced the 2020 season with a round 1 County league outing against Drom/Inch.
Played in dry but heavy underfoot conditions and a stiff downfield breeze this a fine contest from start to finish with two very committed teams striving for victory.
At the interval we trailed 0-07 to 1-09. However, three minutes into add on time the sides were level at 1-15 each only to see Drom gain the winning score to see them victorious on a 1-15 to 1-16 score line.
U/21 B Football Final: It was onto Templemore at 4pm for our Mid final v Upperchurch. Played in dry but bitterly cold conditions we certainly came up against a very good Upperchurch side as we trailed 0-05 to 1-05 at the interval. However, despite our best efforts of the second period we were unable to contain the strong running of the opposition who ran our 0-07 to 1-13 victors. We wish them every success in the remainder of the championship. Special thanks to our management team who put in a huge amount of work with the lads and with a lot of very young players on board the future looks very promising indeed.
Fixtures: Sunday next 15th March senior hurling league round 2 away to Toomevara. Check time.
Our junior B footballers had a walkover from Moycarkey on Sunday last. It is expected that a fixture will take place this weekend.
See diary for fixtures.
Congratulations: We say congratulations to Kevin Stapleton who was married recently. We wish Kevin and Helena many years of happiness and success in the future.
