LOUGHMORE/CASTLEINEY G.A.A CLUB Weekly Notes 02 April 2019
02 Apr 2019Once again the club was involved in three fixtures over the weekend.
On Saturday evening last our senior hurlers faced Holycross in a preliminary Mid championship fixture at The Ragg. Having had a large victory over the opposition last year it was certainly a different story this time, and we struggled considerably over the hour. At the finish we emerged 1-18 to 0-17 winners and in to the Mid quarter final v Moycarkey where a big improvement will be needed.
On Sunday morning in Templemore our junior hurlers played J K Brackens in the Mid Tipperary league. Following a very mixed display we lost out 6-08 to 0-21.
It was back to Templemore on Sunday evening with our minor B footballers facing Boherlahan in the Mid final. Having had a pleasing performance over our opponents in final league section game hopes were high. However on the evening Boherlahan were the dominant team overall and emerged deserving 2-09 to 0-08 winners. We thank our players and management on their great efforts over the months and wish Boherlahan every success in the remainder of the championship.
Senior Hurling County Championship: On Saturday evening next in Borrisoleigh at 6pm our senior hurlers face Burgess in a huge group game in County championship. Going back to last year we lost our first round group game and never recovered from same so let’s get firing on all cylinders for this encounter and get off to a good start.
Check diary for other fixtures.
Speedy Recovery: We wish John Treacy a speed recovery from recent surgery at Croom Hospital.
Wedding Bells: Our best wishes to Stephen Ryan who marries over the following weekend. We wish Stephen and Catriona every happiness in the future.
