Club Notes October 3rd

There were mixed fortunes for our club this weekend. on Saturday our Ladies Football team delivered a county title at the first time of asking. The club was re-established earlier this year after an absence of many decades. A lot of people have put a tremendous amount of work into getting the club off the ground and a county title was a great reward for their actions. A strong finish saw our girls prevail over Boherlahan. Captain Ciara Johnson collected the trophy. Congratulations to players and Conor Eviston, Eamon McGrath, Bernie McGrath and all those involved in the preparation and management of the team. Hopefully this will be the start of several years of success for the club.

On Sunday our senior Footballers relinquished their county title after a hard fought 1 point defeat to Upperchurch Drombane. Injuries finally took their toll on the squad but as always the lads fought to the very end. The last two year’s have been nothing short of a rollercoaster and no doubt with players returning from injury and valuable game time for younger players we will be in a good position to attempt to win back our crowns next year. We thank players and Frankie McGrath’s management team for all the effort they put in this year.

The club wishes to offer its sincere condolences to the family of the late John Maher of Graiguefrahane who was buried on Saturday.

Congratulations to Pat Cullen who took home €1,000 and 100 prize bonds in the first County Board Draw of the year.
