Club Notes 6th August 2023
07 Aug 2023County Hurling and Football Championships
There was defeat for both our Senior and Intermediate footballers this weekend. On Friday evening our Senior Footballers fell to Moycarkey Borris in Gortnahoe. A spirited defensive performance proved difficult for our lads to break down and despite leading by five points at half time we ultimately lost out by the narrowest of margins 1-5 to 7 points. Also in our group Ardfinnan were defeated by Ballina in a high scoring contest.

On Saturday our Intermediate footballers travelled to Leahy Park Cashel where they came up against a much stronger Galtee Rovers outfit losing 2-12 to 0-6.
Hard luck to both teams and hopefully we can get back on track in the next round in a fortnight’s time.
Next week we switch back to the small ball where the lads will be looking to build on their round 1 win over Templederry Kenyons. The game against Hollycross Ballycahill is fixed for 7:00pm in Boherlahan.
Junior Hurlers
Our Juniors C hurlers had a good win over Thurles Sarsfields in the Outside Field on Saturday evening winning on a scoreline of 1-23 to 4-11 in their first championship match of the year as they aim to win the mid Junior C title for the third consecutive year.
Ladies Football
Our Ladies got their first win in this year’s Junior A championship on Wednesday evening by beating last year’s finalists Moyne Templetouhy on a scoreline of 5-10 to 2-05.
Under 19 Hurling
U19 hurlers had a tremendous win over Upperchurch in Drombane on Wednesday evening. Playing a lovely brand of attacking hurling, they scored an impressive 27 points over the hour to the Church’s 1-13. These lads are on a serious winning streak and deserve plenty of support in their next outings. They play Sarsfields on Thursday in Cuguilla
Juvenile Notes
Our U15 hurlers overcame a stiff challenge from St. Patricks to win by 4 points on a scoreline of 2-07 to 1-06.
No match this week, training details to be confirmed.
On Tuesday the 1st our Under 13 hurlers travelled to Templetouhy where they defeated the hosts 4-5 to 1-5. Next up for them is the visit of Gortnahoe Glengoole on Wednesday the 9th of August at 7:30pm in Cuguilla.
Dick Egan
We are thinking of our former club chairman Dick Egan and the whole club wishes him a speedy recovery.
