Club Notes 5th March 2023

Club Planning and Development Workshop

This Friday the 10th of March Loughmore Castleiney GAA will host a Club Planning and Development Workshop in Loughmore Parish Hall to create a five year club plan (2023-2028). You will have the opportunity to give your proposals and ideas on the future priorities to develop the club and the facilities for the enjoyment of all the community. We extend this invite to all members of the community and everyone’s opinion is valued. We look forward to seeing you on the night. Tea and light refreshments will be served.

County Leagues

Our first game of the the Division 2 County Hurling League sees us entertain Carrick Swans on Friday 17th of March in Cugilla at 10:30am. All u19 players that are eligible are encouraged to come along and train with the lads as we prepare for County league action.

Development Squads

Commiserations to Cathal Breen and Daniel McDonnell who played on the Mid Tipp U14 football team that lost out to the North in the Shield Final on Monday night in Dr. Morris Park.

Post Primary Hurling

Huge congratulations to Our Lady’s Templemore who won the County under 17 Fitzgerald Cup on Friday with a 2-19 to 2-13 win over Nenagh. Mikey Ryan and Joey Quinn lined out in goals and corner forward respectively and both contributed handsomely to the victory. Mikey saved a penalty at a vital point in the game and Joey scored 1-03 so a great showing from our lads.  Richie Morris and Paul Cormack were also on the panel. Great to see Paul back after a long term injury kept him on the sidelines for most of last year.

Thurles CBS were in action in the Croke Cup Semi-Finals in Birr on Saturday but lost out by a point against Athenry. A tough way to lose for Eoin and Paul but the boys can hold their heads up after a great campaign.

Intercounty Action

Willie Eviston and Tommy Maher were part of the Tipperary Senior Football Team who travelled to Fermanagh on Sunday in the National Football League. The Ernesieders had the better of the action today and came out with a 2-11 to 0-8 win to condemn Tipp to a 4th consecutive defeat.

Congrats to Ed Meagher, Eoin O’Connell, and Paul McCahey who have been named as part of the Tipp Under 20 Football panel for the year ahead. The club wishes them all the best in the upcoming campaign.

The Tipperary Camogie team lost out to Cork by two points (1-14 to 1-12) on Saturday in what was an engaging contest and really highlighted the progress being made with the side. Mairead Eviston and Eimear McGrath started for Tipp while Niamh Treacy and Aoife McGrath were on the bench.
