Club Notes 4th June 2023
06 Jun 2023Eddie Connolly Memorial Tournament

Loughmore NS would like to welcome everyone to the Eddie Connolly Memorial Tournament in Loughmore/Castleiney GAA pitch on Wednseday the 14th of June at 11am.
The tournament is run to honour the memory of Eddie Connolly who made a huge contribution to GAA in Loughmore/Castleiney and Tipperary before his untimely passing.
Eddie was immersed in GAA from a young age both in the school and in the club. We are deeply grateful to the Connolly family for allowing us to honour Eddie in this way.
The very best of luck to Loughmore NS, Castleiney NS, Leugh NS, Rahealty NS, Clonmore NS, Moyne NS and Lismackin NS, Templetuohy NS.
Ladies Football
Commiserations to our Junior Ladies Football team who were defeated by Thurles Sarsfields in their final group game.
Intercounty Action
Well done to Willie, Liam, and Tommy with the Tipp Footballers who defeated Waterford on Saturday in Páirc Ui Chaoimh. Unfortunately the result wasn’t enough for Tipp to progress to the next round of the Tailteann Cup so that ends the Senior football campaign for 2023. Hopefully the lads will be able to have a good rest before the start of the club action later this summer.
On Saturday the 10th of June the Tipp Camogie team look to build on their Munster success when they welcome Dublin to the County Camogie Grounds at 5pm. Best of luck to Aoife, Eimear, Mairead, and Niamh.
Juvenile Notes
Our under 9s travelled to Ardcroney this evening to play Kilruane McDonaghs and Moneygall in a hurling blitz. The kids played brilliantly and really enjoyed theselves. Thanks to Kilruane for hosting the event and for providing refreshments after it.
On Monday evening last our Minor hurlers played a challenge against Clonoulty and in a fine display they scored 5-17. As lads return to the club from County duty, the tempo has definitely risen in training and it’s great to see. Keep up the good work.
The U15 football team eventually got to play the game against Moyle Rovers after a number of postponements and the South boys used their home advantage to good effect. Well done boys on a decent campaign.
On Saturday morning we hosted 5 other teams in the Michael Hogan u11 football blitz and we had a fantastic morning of quality football and fun. Two groups of 3 played 2 matches each and then the final set of games saw the top team in each group play each other, 2nds played each other and 3rd played each other. Loughmore lost on a coin toss to reach the top match which saw Ballypooreen play Burgess in a fine game which ended in a draw. Upperchurch, St Patricks, and Clonoulty were the other teams involved. A nice feature of the very hot day was the visit of an ice cream van which was really appreciated by the kids. Thanks to our young whistlers Eoin, Mikey, Joey, and Kevin and all the adults who helped out parking cars and providing refreshments. It was a great team effort and enjoyed by all present.
This week sees many of our young members starting the state exams. We wish you all the very best of luck over the coming weeks. It’s a very important time in your lives but these exams will not define you.
Well done to Cathal Ryan who competed in the Senior High Jump at the schools All Ireland Athletics Championships on Saturday and finished joint 4th.

The juvenile club sends best wishes to Brian McGrath as he recovers from the injury he received playing for Tipp last weekend against Waterford.
Sympathies
Sincere condolences to the family of the late Peig O Regan (nee Ely) who died last week down in Cape Clear in her 95th year. Peig was a native of Loughmore. May she rest in peace.
