CLUB NOTES 31/03/24

Senior County Hurling League

We travelled North to Lorrha on Saturday eveningto play the locals in the second round of the County league. Work commitments and injuries meant we were short a good few players but those that played gave it their all. The old story about goals winning games was borne out here with Lorrha rattling the net 3 times to win on a score line of 3-11 to 0-15.  Scorers were Liam McGrath 0-7 (6frees), Ed Meagher 0-2 (1 free), Ed Connolly 0-2, Ciaran McCormack 0-2, Mikey Ryan 0-1 and Mossy McGrath 0-1.

Div 6 County Hurling league

On Sunday morning Clerihan were the visitors to Cuguilla for a division 6 clash. Played on a very heavy pitch, the South team got the better of us in very similar fashion to our Senior team. 4 goals conceded vs 2 scored. Final score 4-09 to 2-09.

A couple of lads got their first taste of adult hurling and competed very well and hopefully the experience gained will benefit us going forward.

Tipp u20 football

A polished performance saw the Tipp u20 team emerge from Lemybrien on Saturday with a comprehensive win on a score line of 5-13 to 0-8. Eoin O Connell was at fullback and this win means that they top the Phase 1 group and progress to Phase 2 which is a round robin with Cork , Clare and Kerry. Next up is Cork in the Stadium on April 10th, Clare on the 17th and Kerry on the 24th.
