Club Notes 29th October 2023

Minor and 21

Our U17 football team are in action in Gortnahoe at 4pm against the home team on Monday 30th.

The u21 football team suffered an agonising loss in the Mid Final on Saturday when they fell to Boherlahan after extra time on a score of 1-12 to 1-13.  In truth this was a game that we could have been won in ordinary time but we presented Boherlahan with too many scoreable frees which they converted. We had a good conversion rate from the ball played in to our forwards but too often the last pass went astray. These lads have been involved in 3 really tough games over the last few weeks with extra time required on each occasion and they cannot be faulted for effort.

Focus will now switch to U21 hurling and we need a huge effort from everyone on the panel over the next two weeks. Gortnahoe are the opponents and after their success in the County U19, they will feel that they can also go deep in the U21

Harty Cup

The Harty Cup continued this past week with the two local schools, Thurles CBS and Our Lady’s Templemore both recording good victories. Mikey Ryan and Joey Quinn started for Our Lady’s with Paul Cormack and Richie Morris also on the panel. They had a 2 point win over North Mon in Fethard.

Daniel McCahey is a member of the Thurles panel who had a fine victory over Tulla. This guarantees them a place in the next round regardless of what happens in their final match against Youghal.

Camogie

Best of luck to Aoife McGrath who is nominated for a Camogie All-Star. The award ceremony is this Saturday night.

Tipp Under 16s

Well done to Daniel McCahey who was a member of the Tipperary u16 panel who defeated Kilkenny in the All Ireland Shield on Sunday. Tipp won by a point , 14 pts to 13.
