Dillon Quirke Foundation Fundraiser

On Sunday morning our senior hurlers arranged a Long Puck competition as part of a county wide initiative in order to raise funds for the Dillon Quirke Foundation. The event was well attended and over €400 was raised on the morning. Dara Nolan and Joey Hennessy were joint winners.

Intercounty Action

During the week Liam McGrath, Tommy Maher, and Willie Eviston were named as part of David Power’s Tipperary Senior Football panel. On Saturday evening Tipp opened their National Football League Campaign with a home game against Down. After a poor first half showing Tipp rallied in the second half but the Ulster men ran out 3 point winners in the end. Willie and Tommy were in the 26 while Liam McGrath was a late addition to the starting 15.

John McNamara announced the Tipperary Minor football squad for the 2023 championship on Sunday and included are Mikey Ryan and Joey Quinn. The lads have been training hard over the last couple of months and this is just reward for their efforts. Well done boys.

Post Primary Schools

The big school news at the moment is the history making Harty Cup final which has been fixed for Semple Stadium on Sunday February 5th with throw in at 1 pm. Thurles CBS will take on Cashel Community School in the first ever all Tipperary final.

Paul McCahey and Eoin O’Connell will represent Thurles CBS in the first ever all Tipperary Harty Cup final next Sunday.

Loughmore Castleiney will be represented by Paul McCahey and Eoin O Connell pictured above. We wish the boys well and hopefully they will have the famous old trophy in the club next week.

Thurles CBS met Our Lady’s Templemore on Friday 27th in the county u17 hurling semi finals and in a very well contested game the boys from Templemore had a well deserved victory with 2 goals from Joey Quinn the big difference between the teams. Mikey Ryan had a very solid day in the Templemore goal, dealing with everything that the well touted Thurles forwards threw at him. Paul Cormack and Richard Morris were on the Templemore panel and Daniel McCahey featured on the Thurles side.

On Wednesday the 25th Oran Breen was part of the CBS u16.5 football panel which played the mighty Kenmare in the Munster C competition in Pairc Ui Chaoimh. Despite losing the boys got to experience the thrill of using the famous dressing rooms and practice facilities beside the Lee.

Tuesday 24th saw Our Lady’s play Ballincollig in U16.5 football and the very busy Joey Quinn and Mikey Ryan were in action. In a fine display they emerged winners on a score line of 4-9 to 1-10.

All of these games will have the lads in great shape when club action returns and it’s great to see them doing so well.
