Loughmore-Castleiney Secure County Semi-Final Spot

Loughmore-Castleiney booked their place in the County Senior Hurling semi-final on Saturday with a hard-fought win over Toomevara.

The decisive moments came in the opening half when goals from Ed Connolly, Tomás McGrath, and John McGrath established a commanding lead, giving Loughmore the edge at the interval.

Toomevara started the second half brightly with two quick points, but Loughmore responded with four unanswered scores to restore control. Points were exchanged throughout the remainder of the contest, highlighted by three excellent sideline cuts from Ciarán McCormack.

In stoppage time, Toomevara struck for two late goals to narrow the gap, but the outcome was never in doubt. Loughmore ran out winners on a 3-22 to 2-20 scoreline and now advance to the last four.

Juvenile News

U15B Mid Hurling Final

Hard luck to our U15s who faced a powerful Holycross-Ballycahill side on Sunday evening and were unable to settle into the game. Despite their best efforts, Holycross proved too strong on the day and claimed the Mid title. Final score: 1-12 to 6-16. Thanks to Jim & Mary Nolan, Castleiney for providing post match refreshments.

In our non-competitive juvenile squads, it was a busy weekend of action. The U9s travelled to Templetuohy for games in both codes, while our U7s hosted JK Brackens. They enjoyed a very special start to their blitz with Sean Quinn leading the teams onto the field with his bagpipes, and the morning was rounded off in style as Noel McGrath presented medals to all players — a real treat for everyone involved. Sincere thanks to all who helped organise such a memorable occasion.

Our youngest Nursery group also brought their season to a close, having begun back in May. To mark the occasion, John and Brian McGrath presented each child with a signed Tipperary team poster. Compliments to Diarmuid Brennan for supplying the posters, and to all coaches and parents for their commitment and support throughout a fantastic season.
