31 Oct 2025Back-to-back County Hurling Champions!

For the first time in the history of the Club our senior hurling team are back-to-back County hurling champions.
Loughmore-Castleiney retained the county crown in a thrilling encounter, edging out Nenagh Éire Óg by three points to claim a sixth Dan Breen Cup title. The match was a showcase of high-quality hurling, with ten different scorers contributing for the champions and a spirited fightback from Nenagh that fell just short.
The first half was tightly contested, with both sides trading scores. However, Loughmore- Castleiney’s depth and experience shone through, with John McGrath (1-5) and Liam McGrath (1-3) leading the scoring charge. A crucial moment came early in the second half when a John McGrath free was mishandled and ended up in the net, giving us a vital cushion.
Despite Nenagh’s late surge, including points from substitutes and a near-miss goal attempt, Loughmore held firm. Our ability to respond under pressure and convert key chances proved decisive.
Captain Liam McGrath raised the Dan Breen Cup to rapturous applause and was aptly awarded Man of the Match for his outstanding performance.
Congratulations to the team, management and backroom team who have put in tremendous effort throughout the year.
We will play Eire Óg Ennis on Sunday 16th November in Ennis.
