CLUB NOTES 24/11/24
24 Nov 2024
Loughmore Castleiney 3-09, Eire Og Ennis 2-07

This result means that we are back in a Munster club football final for the first time since 1973. Playing the Clare champions in their own pitch was always going to be a tough challenge but our lads don’t read scripts. From the time that Brian McGrath broke through the middle and found the net after just 50 seconds, we had Eire og on the back foot for most of the first half but unfortunately we shipped a messy goal on 25 minutes and Eire og followed with 2 points to lead at halftime 2-02 to 1-04. On the resumption we quickly got back on track with four points in the first 7 minutes and it was tit for tat until Ciaran Connolly netted in the 25th minute. Eire og replied with two points from a sustained attack and with just 2 points separating the teams Philip O Connell was played through on the 45 yard line and with only the keeper to beat he kept his composure to slot home from close range. Game over. Congratulations to everyone involved and roll on Dr Crokes.
Some of the younger members of the team will line out again on Tuesday night when our u21 team play Drom in Drombane at 7.45pm in the Mid semi final.
Congratulations to Mid Tipperary who took the U13B Football Cup tonight in a cold Coolmore Dr Morris Park with victory over South Tipp with Mikey Loughnane and Tadgh Stapleton on the panel. Dylan Considine and Daire Kennedy were on the second Mid Tipp team.

Club AGM
This took place on last Thursday night with a fine attendance representing all sections of the club. In his address Chairman Joe Ryan reflected on a very successful year on and off the pitch. 3 adult County titles and a County final place for our u13 hurlers on the field and some very good fundraisers including a fantastically supported Golf Classic and a fine Sports Capital Grant were surely the highlights. He thanked everyone who helped out in any way and congratulated all the successful players and management teams. Special thanks to Eamon Connolly who stood down from the Treasurer role after a great 5 years leaving us in a very positive situation. Joe wished all new committee members the best for the coming year and wished the footballers good luck vs Ennis.
