CLUB NOTES 22/09/24

We had a busy week just gone but let’s start with the u13 hurlers who played Ballinahinch Templederry in the County final on Saturday. This team has really got the parish buzzing over the past couple of weeks and months and a great crowd turned up in Holycross to support them. The game was end to end stuff and finished with both teams scoring 11 times. Unfortunately the Combo were more clinical in front of goal and they clinched victory on a score of 4-07 to 1-10. Our boys can be very proud of their success this year and be assured that we are very proud of how the played and how hard they worked. Well done to the team and their management team. Once again the boys returned to Loughmore after the match and once again they were treated to a fantastic barbecue courtesy of Denis O Reilly of Premier Meats Thurles. Denis has been a superb sponsor of the club this year and we would encourage everyone to support him when possible.

On Sunday morning the Junior C team played Thurles Sarsfields and were victorious in a one sided game which ended on a score of 3-23 to 0-09.

At 3.30 on Sunday we took on JK Brackens in the County Football Championship and produced one of our best performances of the year to win on a score line of 2-12 to 0-11. The win was all the more impressive as we played the most of the second half with 14 players after a red card for Eamon Connolly. The loss of Eamon seemed to really lift the team as they fought for every ball as if their lives depended on it and were worthy winners. Attention now turns back to the hurling next weekend as we face Sarsfields in the County semi final.
