CLUB NOTES 21/04/24

Medal Presentation

We had a lovely night in Castleiney on Friday last when we presented our victorious teams from last year with their medals. Pat Cullen did the honours and was full of praise for the success that we achieved. He encouraged all players in the club, ladies and gents, to build on this for the coming year. A lovely feature of the night was having Breda Webster on stage who expressed her delight at the success of the ladies in particular on the 50th anniversary of her own All Ireland Senior win with Tipperary. Breda presented a plaque to the ladies for use as they see fit. The night was rounded off in Nolan’s with plenty of food and drinks and a big thanks to everyone who made it happen.

Senior Hurling

Our second team play Killea in Killea on next Friday evening at 7pm in Div 6 of the County league. On Wednesday 1st we play Killenaule in Div 1 with throw in at 7pm in Killenaule.

U15 Peil.

Our u15 football team was in action on Saturday in Cappawhite and played some great football where they defeated Silvermines in Round 1 on a score line of 1-10 to 0-02. Next up was St Pats who scraped past us by 2-03 to 2-02. Cappawhite was next and we won this 5-05 to 5-02. This put us in the semifinals vs Moycarkey which meant a trip to Killenaule. A very good Moycarkey team got the better of us on a score of 4-06 to 3-03 and they went on to win the final against Killenaule 2-02 to 1-04. Well done to the team and management on a very good display over the course of the day with a very young team.

Tipperary U20 football

Congrats to Eoin O Connell on a fine performance at full back for Tipperary last Wednesday evening as they beat Clare in Ardfinnan and gave themselves a fighting chance of making the Munster final. They play Kerry in Tralee on this Wednesday at 7pm and they must win if they are to have any chance of getting through.
