Round 2 of the County Championship saw us in action against Clonmel Commercials on Friday evening in Clonoulty. We began in fine fashion with Ciaran McGrath hitting the crossbar in the first minute with a rasper that went over for a point. A minute later Liam McGrath pointed a free and then Philip O Connell pointed from a mark. 4 minutes gone and 3 points ahead. Slowly Clonmel started to find their rhythm and had drawn level by the 11th minute. A Liam McGrath free was cancelled by a score from play by Commercials but a great interception by Eoin O Connell turned over a Commercials attack and he put John McGrath through the middle. John drew the defenders and off loaded to Ciaran McGrath and this time it was in the back of the net. This was quickly followed by a pointed free from Liam and one from play by Eamon Connolly. Commercials had a point from play in between these as the scores came thick and fast and the game was moving along at a high tempo. Commercials had the next 3 points before a sublime move saw Liam McGrath find John McGrath on the edge of the square and as he went in, Shane Ryan pulled him down. Penalty. Black card. Liam McGrath. Goal!! Half time.

Score 2-06 to 0-08. The 2nd half saw us continue the scoring with a point from Mossie McGrath followed by a free in the 3rd minute by Liam. That was the last score until the 15th minute when Commercials scored from a free and then a minute later John Ryan scored a point from play which was to prove to be our last. Commercials unloaded their bench at this stage and began a fight back which saw them score the last 6 points to level the game at 2-09 to 0-15. This was a fine game of football and the point earned was well justified.
Junior Football

Saturday evening took us to Drombane to face Cashel and this was always going to be a difficult assignment. Inside the first 2 minutes Cashel had the ball in the net and followed with 2 points. Martin O Connell had our first point in the 12th minute but Cashels reply was swift. Down the field and another goal. Thankfully we answered that score quickly as Joey Quinn had a goal of his own a minute later. Two Cashel frees and one from play from Cashel either side of two frees from Micheal McGrath saw the half time score at 1-03 to 2-05. Paul McCahey opened the scoring in the second half with two early points from play and Cian Hennessy put over a free before Paul got another point from play. 25 minutes gone before Cashel got a point from play and Cian Hennessy hit another point from play to get us within a point of Cashel. Unfortunately that was our last score as Cashel broke down field and scored a fine goal and followed with the point to bring the score to 3-07 to 1-08. We probably left a couple of goal chances behind us but we played some fine football and hopefully we can get a win from the final group game in 2 weeks time .
U19 football

On Wednesday evening we took on Moyne Templetuohy away and playing with the aid of a strong breeze we got to half time just a point behind despite a couple of poor wides. The second period proved to be a tough battle and the greater fire power of the Tuohy boys saw them ahead at the end by 2-15 to 2-09. We are due to play Boherlahan next week.
Ladies football
Round 3 of the championship is on Wednesday evening vs Moycarkey in Littleton. Time to be confirmed.
