19 Aug 2025John McGrath with the PwC GAA/GPA Hurler of the Month award
Congratulations to John McGrath who was named PwC GAA/GPA Hurler of the Month for July. He scored 1-02 to help Tipperary defeat perennial rivals Kilkenny in this year’s All Ireland hurling semi-final. In the final, against a heavily favoured Cork team, McGrath’s contribution was again pivotal. The Loughmore-Castleiney man scored 2-02, including a stunning second goal as the Premier County won Liam MacCarthy for the first time since 2019. McGrath becomes the first Tipperary hurler to win the PwC GAA/GPA Award since his brother Noel won the accolade in August 2019 following that last championship victory.

Senior Football Round 1
On a balmy Friday night last the reigning champions set the tone early, dominating the opening half and moving into a comfortable 2-09 lead by the break. Killenaule improved after the restart and made use of the new two-point scoring rule, raising the orange flag on three occasions, but our strong first-half performance proved decisive, and we closed out the game in composed fashion. Final whistle 2-14 to 0-09.
