Club Notes 16th July 2023
16 Jul 2023Mid Senior Hurling Championship
Our senior hurlers were defeated by Upperchurch Drombane in the Ragg on Sunday afternoon. A late goal from Liam McGrath was insufficient as we lost by the narrowest of margins on a scoreline of 2-14 to 1-18.
A game in which we never were really able to impose ourselves on fully saw us end our involvement in this year’s Mid Senior Hurling Championship.
A late 1st half goal from Ed Connolly saw us 2 points to the good at half time but a determined performance from Upperchurch Drombane saw them claw back the deficit and nudge into the lead early in the second half and ultimately we were unable to turn things around.
The lads will now have a small break from games before the County Hurling and Football championships start up.

Junior Hurlers
Our Junior Hurlers are in action on Monday 17th at 7:30pm in Castleiney against Holycross Ballycahill.
Under 19 Hurling and Football
Well done to our u19 football team who continued their winning streak with a comprehensive victory over Moyne Templetuohy on Wednesday last. They have a break this week before they play Gortnahoe the following week.
Intercounty Action
Best of luck to Aoife and Eimear McGrath, Mairead Eviston, and Niamh Treacy and the rest of the Tipperary Senior Camogie squad as they travel to Nowlan Park on Saturday at 3:30pm for the All-Ireland Semi-Final against Waterford. A win would see Tipp reach the Final for the first time in 17 years. Denis Kelly’s women have had a great year so far annexing a Munster title on top of an impressive league campaign which were both followed by an unbeaten run so far in this year’s Championship. We’d like to encourage as many people as possible to head to Nowlan Park on Saturday to cheer them on. Tickets can be purchased here.

Juvenile Notes
Our under 13 hurlers defeated Upperchurch Drombane 6-8 to 4-5 in Drombane on Tuesday evening. This Tuesday they take on Drom & Inch in Castleiney at 7pm.
The u15 hurlers had Emly at home in their first outing in the county hurling championship and after a keenly contested match it finished with a 6 point victory thanks to a couple of late goals. 4-10 to 3-7. They will face Durlas Óg in Thurles on Thursday evening at 7pm.
Brian Gleeson
Hard luck to Brian Gleeson who put in another heroic performance in the Rugby World Cup final on Friday evening last. He has had a fantastic tournament bringing great honour to himself, his family, parish , County and Country. We look forward to welcoming him home and to following his career through many many more Championships.
