Club Notes 15th January 2023
15 Jan 2023With 2022 now behind us the club is looking forward to the season ahead and in the coming days and weeks managers and coaches will be in place for all teams and age groups.
The adjourned Club AGM is scheduled for Thursday the 19th of January at 7:30pm in the clubhouse in Cuguilla.
Our u21 hurlers were in action right up to the end of December and were unlucky to lose the Mid Final on a scoreline of 1-16 to 1-14 in favour of Upperchurch Drombane.

While the club activity is quiet, a large number of our younger members are currently trialling with various county hurling and football panels. The crunch is coming soon with most of these panels due to be finalised in the coming weeks after a tough winter of training and practice games. Best of luck to all the boys involved.
We had a number of boys involved in Harty Cup action last week with Thurles CBS and Templemore. Hard luck to Mikey Ryan who lined out with Templemore who led for long periods of their match with Ard Scoil Ris only to falter late on. Thurles left it until the 61st minute to lead St Colmans in a hard fought game where Eoin O Connell and Paul McCahey were in action. Good luck to Thurles on Saturday 21st when they play Midleton in the semi finals.
Ladies Football
On Saturday the 7th of January our Ladies Footballers were presented with their County Junior B Medals in Hayes Hotel Thurles. This capped off a great year for the club which can hopefully be built upon in 2023.

Our Mothers&Others group will start back up on Thursday the 26th of January with all levels of skill and fitness catered for. This is a great way to get out and about and meet people and has been a very popular initiative within the club. Contact Maria or Trisha for more information or contact the club on social media.

The Late Michael ‘Mick’ Bohan – The Boo.
Following a long illness the parish was saddened on Thursday last to learn the passing of former club dual player Mick Bohan.
Although born in Clonmore he spent his time in Gurteen Castleiney and became involved in the club from his juvenile days playing both hurling and football. In 1964, while amalgamated with Moyne Templetouhy, he won Mid and County Minor hurling and football titles as well as Mid and County Hurling Titles at U21.
Mick was also part of the Senior Football teams of the late Sixties.
A guard of honour formed by the club as his coffin draped in the club colours departed Grey’s Funeral Home for Clonmore Church on Friday evening 13th January.
To his entire family our deepest sympathy.
