Club Notes 14th May 2023

Senior Hurling

Our Senior Hurlers are back in action on Tuesday evening with a trip to Portroe in the County Hurling League at 7pm.

Ladies Football

Our ladies footballers are out in league action this Friday May 19th away to Latin Cullen Emily at 7.20pm.

Our Mothers and Others team played Rockwell in a challenge recently. They continue to train every Thursday night. The club will be holding a blitz on Friday May 26th kicking off at 7pm.

Under 19 Training

Our u19’s started back training on Sunday morning as they prepare for championship action in a few weeks time. It’s important that we get a full attendance at training as this cohort have had very little activity in recent times as their championship was very short and condensed last year and because of Covid, many of the players have been inactive for too long. Sunday’s was a great session with new coaches on board and a new energy in the group. Make sure you’re there next week if possible.

Intercounty Action

On Thursday night in Mallow Joey Quinn lined out with the Tipp minors in the Daryl Darcy final against Limerick but after beating them in the first round the Treaty boys turned the tables when it mattered most. Despite the 3 point loss the lads now progress to the Munster semi final vs Cork where we would hope that their winning streak might return. The match is fixed for Semple Stadium on Thursday evening so please go along and offer your support.

Saturday was a great day for Tipperary Camogie as they clinched a Munster Senior Title for the first time in 13 years with a phenomenal display against Clare in Semple Stadium. Aoife and Eimear McGrath both started the game while Niamh Treacy and Mairead Eviston came on in the second half. Well done and best of luck in the All-Ireland series next month.

The Tipp senior footballers were less fortunate in the first round of the Tailteann Cup in Navan the same evening. Willie started the game for Tipp while Liam McGrath came on in the second half and contributed a point but ultimately Tipp succumbed to a 1-19 to 11 point defeat.

Next Sunday will see a double header in Semple Stadium as the Tipp footballers take on Down at 1:45pm followed by the Munster Senior Hurling clash between Tipp and Limerick.

Juvenile Club

On Monday evening last the Minor hurlers played Moycarkey in Littleton and with both teams short some regulars, this turned out to be a very evenly contested match with the spoils shared at 1-13 each. There has been notable improvement with this group since they started back and it’s important to continue training as the benefits are obvious.

On to Clonakenny on Tuesday evening where our u13 football team faced Toomevara in the county semi final. Before a very large attendance the boys played their hearts out but had to give way to a stronger Toome outfit whose greater physical presence was too much to overcome. However the team and mentors can be very proud of their achievements thus far and we have some great talent at this age group and younger. The future is bright.
