CLUB NOTES 14/04/24

Senior hurling

Pictured before the throw in are our mascots for the day with the Captains and referee. Emma and Brian Higgins, Darragh King and Charlie Bergin.

Our Seniors played Roscrea on Sunday morning in Cuguilla in round 3 of the County League and suffered a 20 pts to 10 pts defeat. Playing with aid of a strong breeze in the first half, we went to the dressing rooms 3 points behind as Roscrea were much sharper all over the field. Facing the wind for the second half was always going to be a test and despite our best efforts, Roscrea took the spoils.

U15 football

We played Moyne Templetuohy on Thursday evening in this competition and with some very young players in action, the Touhy lads were more direct in their approach and definitely targeted goals. We got to grips with them in latter part of the first half and scored some lovely points. However just as we got close to levelling the game, Tuohy struck for 2 goals inside a minute and then held on to the final whistle for a 4-09 to 2-11 victory.

U13 football

On Tuesday evening Moyne Templetuohy were also the opposition for the u13 team and these boys were all in the mood for goals. 8 green flags were equally shared but the Templetuohy outfit ran out 4-15 to 4-07 winners.

Medal Presentation

On Friday night next 19th we will have our Medal Presentation to the following teams. The Senior footballers, u19 football team and our Ladies football County champions. The Junior C hurling team will also be receiving their medals. The venue is Castleiney hall at 8.30 with refreshments afterwards in Nolan’s.

Camogie League Final.

Huge congratulations to the girls from the parish who were victorious on Sunday in Croke Park as Tipperary won their first League title in 20 years. After a very slow start, they took control with Karen Kennedy from play and our own Eimear McGrath from frees providing the scores to run out 1-13 to 0-15 point winners.

Tipperary u20 footballers lost out to Cork on Wednesday last in Fethard on a score line of 0-14 to 0-07. Eoin O Connell had a decent outing at full back and they now face Clare next Wednesday evening in Ardfinnan with throw in at 6.15.

The Tipperary minor football team continued their good run with a fine win over Waterford and they travel to Quilty on Tuesday evening to play Clare. With 2 wins already they are guaranteed their place in the Daryl Darcy final regardless of the result on Tuesday so congrats to Shane Hennessy and his team.
