Club Notes 11th June 2023

Eddie Connolly Memorial Tournament

Loughmore NS would like to welcome everyone to the Eddie Connolly Memorial Tournament in Loughmore/Castleiney GAA pitch on Wednseday the 14th of June at 11am.

The tournament is run to honour the memory of Eddie Connolly who made a huge contribution to GAA in Loughmore/Castleiney and Tipperary before his untimely passing.

Eddie was immersed in GAA from a young age both in the school and in the club. We are deeply grateful to the Connolly family for allowing us to honour Eddie in this way.

The very best of luck to Loughmore NS, Castleiney NS, Leugh NS, Rahealty NS, Clonmore NS, Moyne NS and Lismackin NS, Templetuohy NS.

Intercounty Action

Congrats to Aoife, Eimear, Mairead, and Niamh who all aided Tipp Camogie get their All-Ireland Championship campaign off to a winning start with a 2-19 to 1-6 win over Dublin the Ragg. Next up is a trip away to Wexford on Saturday 24th of June.

The Tipp Senior Hurlers are in action this Saturday the 17th of July when they take on Offaly in Tullamore in the knockout stages of the All-Ireland series. Full fixture details are yet to be confirmed but a win would set up a 1/4 final with Galway. Best of luck to Noel, John, Brian, and Declan.

Juvenile Notes

With exams in full swing at the moment, it’s relatively quiet on the juvenile playing front.

Our U11s played their first Go Games hurling match on Saturday morning in Cuguilla against Gortnahoe and this was a cracking game with great skill on display from both sides. They meet again next Saturday in Gortnahoe in the football equivalent.

At present we have a few players involved with County development squads. Cathal Ryan is on the u14 hurling team, Richie Morris is with the u16 footballers and Daniel McCahey is with the u16 hurlers. These development squads are a great boost for these boys as it exposes them to training and matches at a high level which will surely benefit the club going forward. Keep up the good work boys.

Training continues for all underage teams and we would appeal to all players to make an effort to attend the sessions as the season begins in earnest in a couple of weeks.

Brian Gleeson

Congrats to clubman Brian Gleeson who has signed a contract with Munster Rugby Academy. This is another brilliant achievement for Brian in a season of brilliant achievements with a World Cup still to look forward to. Best of luck Brian!
