Remembering the heroic past
As we head into this significant week, it is a timely occasion to honour and remember the Loughmore/Castleiney Senior Football Team, who, 51 years ago, reached the same level of competition as our 2024 players. The rarity of these occasions makes them all the more special.
On October 2, 1973, this remarkable team triumphed over Ardfinnan in the County Final, earning the right to compete against UCC. We hold the team of 1973 in our hearts and minds, especially those who have since passed to their eternal reward. Most recently, we remember Tom Hayes (RIP), who captained the football team all those years ago. Let us celebrate their legacy and draw inspiration from their achievements as we support our current team in their pursuit of glory.

Munster Senior Club Football Final
Sunday 8th December at 1.30pm in Mallow, Cork. We extend every best wish to the panel & management as they enter the final preparations for this fixture. We hope that like all previous matches throughout the year, there will be a huge sea of red & green making its way to Mallow. The fixture will also be aired on TG4. Best wishes to our Tipperary counterparts Aherlow GAA in their Munster Intermediate Football Final on Saturday 7th December.
Mid Tipperary GAA Awards
We were honoured to have such a large representation in the recently announced Mid Tipperary Annual Awards. Congratulations to Liam McGrath (Senior Footballer of the Year), John McGrath (Senior Hurler of the Year), Eoin O’Connell (Young Footballer of the Year) and we were also named as Senior Club of the Year! Well done to everyone involved in the Club that contributed to our achievements.
U21 Mid Football
On Tuesday evening last we had a good win against Drom/Inch to book a place in the U21 Mid Football Final against Boherlahan/Dualla GAA Club. This fixture was played on Saturday 30 November. A stronger Boherlahan side were in control of the game from the outset and we were unable to convert scores. Best of luck to Boherlahan as they progress to the County competition.
Juvenile News
The U11 age group finished their year on Saturday last, and 3 girls ended their development with the Club, we wish them well as they join other clubs to continue playing their sport.
