Senior Football Secure a place in the County Semi final

On Sunday last, Loughmore-Castleiney produced a superb all-round performance to overcome Ballina GAA in the County quarter-final. Displaying excellent teamwork and fluid play across the field, scores came thick and fast with white, orange, and green flags raised on several occasions.

Leading by ten points at the interval (0-15 to 0-10), with Liam McGrath contributing nine points and further scores from Liam Treacy, Tómas McGrath, Philip O’Connell, and Eamonn Connolly, Loughmore carried their momentum into the second half.

Playing into the wind after the break, the team continued to dominate, with goals from Brian McGrath, Philip O’Connell, and Eamonn Connolly. A strong defensive display and several late points ensured a comprehensive victory and a well-earned place in the County semi-final. Fulltime score 3-18 to 0-12.

Intermediate Football Relegation

On Friday night, Loughmore-Castleiney faced Moyne-Templetuohy in the first of a three-way playoff. In a tightly contested encounter, we trailed by two points at the interval. The second half remained evenly balanced, and in the closing stages we were chasing a score to level the game. However, under the new rules, Michéal struck a superb effort from outside the D to register a two-pointer and secure a dramatic victory.

We now await the crucial fixture against Mullinahone, a must-win to avoid relegation.
