U13B County Hurling Champions

Heartiest congratulations are extended to our U13 hurling team on their outstanding victory over Silvermines in the County B Final on Saturday 13th September 2025.

In testing conditions underfoot, it took a few minutes for both sides to settle, but once in their stride, Loughmore-Castleiney displayed superb skill and teamwork across the field. A first-half tally of 1-06 to 0-03 gave them a commanding lead at the interval.

Silvermines came out strongly after the break, striking goals in the opening minute and again in the sixth to close the gap. However, our players responded in emphatic fashion, raising two green flags of their own along with a brace of points to reassert control. Their determined effort and collective spirit secured the coveted trophy, which was presented by Bord nÓg Chairman PJ Bowden to joint captains Tómas Kennedy and Killian Cleary.

Credit must also go to the management team of Gary Sweeney, Audrey McDonnell, John Scully, Eamon McGrath, and Noel Morris for their dedication and commitment throughout the year in guiding this talented group to county glory. Thanks to Premier Meats, Thurles for providing refreshments for the victorious players. Thanks too for the early season preparations with Paul Treacy (Achieve WellBeing Hub, Templemore).

Senior Football Championship

On Saturday afternoon last the senior footballers had a fine win over Moyle Rovers to top the table as the round stages of the competition finish. Leading from the outset there were plenty of scores traded between the sides and two early goals (6th P. O’Connell & 12th J. McGrath) gave us a four-point buffer at the break. An additional goal in the opening minute of the second thirty meant Moyle Rovers were chasing all the way to the final whistle, coming close in the 27th minute the gap was only two points. A final point by Conor Ryan and with the backs doubling down to keep the three-point lead. Fulltime 3-13 to 2-13.

A well-earned rest from fixtures for the coming weekend before the hurling quarter finals scheduled for weekend of 26th September.

Intermediate Footballers Face Relegation Playoff

Loughmore-Castleiney intermediate side fell to Moycarkey-Borris on Friday night in a crucial fixture that would have secured safety with a win.

In difficult, wet conditions, and with some confusion surrounding the implementation of new rules, scores were slow to come by, with the first Loughmore point not arriving until the 16th minute. It remained finely balanced at the break, though Moycarkey held a two-point advantage.

An early second-half goal for the opposition proved decisive, leaving Loughmore chasing the game for the remainder. Despite a spirited effort, the deficit was too great to close, and the contest ended 3-09 to 2-10 in Moycarkey’s favour. The result now sees Loughmore-Castleiney facing into a relegation playoff.

Congratulations to John McGrath who has been announced as the Tipperary Sports Person of the Year by the Tipperary Supporters Club following an exceptional campaign.
